JAZZ @ SOUTHBRIDGE
SINGAPORE’S ICONIC JAZZ HOTSPOT!

(Singapore, 25 Jan 2010) Cosmopolitan cuisine, sublime mixology and fabulous jazz line sums up Southbridge Jazz @ 7atenine. This new entity results from the merging of 2 icons in their own right i.e. Jazz @ Southbridge and 7atenine Singapore.

Jazz @ Southbridge first opened its pastel blue doors in 2002 in a vintage building that stood out against Singapore’s towering skyscrapers. As the city’s only authentic jazz club, one would be hard-pressed to find a venue dedicated to world class jazz music. Well respected international live acts and recording artistes from New York, Japan and Europe that have previously graced the Jazz @ Southbridge stage include Eli Degibri(who’s performed with Herbie Hancock), Dale Barlow, Trio Toykeat, Saigenji, Katrine Madsen, and Aaron Goldberg; and local artistes Jeremy Monteiro and Christie Smith.

The move to snazzier quarters at the iconic Esplanade will present guests with more wining and dining options and definitely more space to enjoy top notch jazz performers.

Michele Kwok, the founder of 7atenine says, “7atenine recognises the sophistication inherent in all jazz music lovers and we believe that this sophistication is present in all aspects of 7atenine from the design of the restaurant bar, our signature cocktails and how we spare no attention to detail.”

Eddie Chan, the owner of Jazz@Southbridge adds, “Jazz @ Southbridge and 7atenine is coming together by destiny. Being at the foothill of a performance hub, this merger will create an international culture that brings forth the best in jazz to Singapore.”

Jazz @ Southbridge’s impressive resident band will be making the move with them. Its illustrious members include WeiXiang on piano, Christy Smith on double bass, and Eddie Layman on drums, and Alemay Fernandez velvety vocals. WeiXiang, Christie and Eddie have all made their debuts in the US jazz scene, performing in prestigious clubs and with Jazz greats. Alemay has honed her craft from the age of four, she is a regular on the Singapore drama scene and is infamous for her sultry vocal styling and gutsy personality.

Southbridge Jazz @ 7atenine’s indoor dining space has been converted to accommodate a performance space that will fits 100 patrons. This compliments the existing dining and chill-out decks for patrons to fully enjoy fabulous food and signature cocktails.
